In the 1990s, Todd Warner Moore was one of the principal singer/songrwiters for the Lawrence, Kansas-based band Acoustic Juice. The band toured the midwest in support of their independently released album. The album would go on to receive critical acclaim in the Kansas City area and fantastic support from their fans. After the band split up, Moore became increasingly interested in living abroad.
In 1997, Moore moved to Budapest, Hungary, where he would live for the next six years, teaching English at a high schoool by day and playing at a teahouse by night. After a chance encounter on a train, Moore soon began performing with a gifted British guitarist. Once a British bass player and a Candadian drummer were added, the international Tea Thieves was born. Tea Thieves performed regularly and created three albums before disbanding. Moore returned to the States.
